PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This activity begins with a simple explanation of the duty of historians to interpret history and definitions of objectivity, subjectivity, and bias.

Students are presented with the image and title page of an American history book, "The Pioneer History of America," published in 1883. The full subtitle is broken down to explain to students how it is biased toward a Euro-American point-of-view. This short assignment asks students to rewrite the title, using roughly the same number of words, with bias, from the Native American point-of-view.
