Help the pirates find the treasure map by reading words with short a. Laminate the cards for durability. Glue the pages of the game into a file folder and glue the cover on the front. Laminate for durability. This is played like Candy Land. Students choose a color-coded card and read the short a word on the card. If they read the word correctly they can move to the corresponding place on the board. If they are incorrect, they place the card at the bottom of the pile and their turn is over. The first pirate to reach the map is the winner!
I use file folder games during my small group instruction, centers, and during our word work time.
Note- This game is included in the Short A Activities download.
