Roll and Cover requires one dice while the Roll and Add requires two dice. I found pirate’s gold pieces at Party City to use as manipulatives for the game boards.
Fill the Pirate’s Chest is a fun sorting game. Each chest represents a number and students will locate the 3 coins that fit that appropriate number.
I also included a game board called “Treasure Map”. For this game students place the addition problem gem cards face down. Players take turns drawing a card from the stack. If they solve their problem right, they can move on to the next space. If they do not answer correctly they must stay where they are. Players take turns until they have made their way around the game board and “found the treasure” at the end of the game. I found acrylic gems at JoAnn’s Fabrics in the floral dept. These plastic gems are great to use as manipulatives and movers for this game.
Students can also practice counting from 1 to 20 with the jewel counting mats. The gold coins or acrylic gems make fun manipulatives to count with.
