Description

Are you ready to walk the plank or swab the decks? Grab this Pirates task card set that features a magazine-style format with text features and comprehension questions. The highly-engaging articles are all about pirates - their clothing, style of speech, ships, and more!

Note: This set is available in a money-saving bundle!

This package contains four pages of nonfiction reading selections designed to resemble magazine or newspaper pages. The features used in this resource include bold print, caption, diagram, fact box, glossary, illustration, italics, map, photograph, pronunciation, sidebar, subtitle, table, and title. The magazine articles are about pirate phrases, pirate clothing, pirate ships, jobs on the ship, buried treasure, and pirate trivia.

The set of 60 task cards has many unique features:

  • Multiple choice cards include: determining the type of nonfiction text feature in the article, determining the purpose of the nonfiction text feature, and basic comprehension questions.
  • The open-ended tasks use nonfiction text features! These are identified with bold print. Open-ended tasks include creating a table of contents, making a glossary, creating an index, and writing a paragraph. The open-ended task cards will not need additional research.
  • The brightly colored backgrounds for the task cards are color-coded: red for multiple-choice cards concerning text features, blue for multiple-choice cards concerning comprehension questions, and green for open-ended tasks.
  • The card frames are black and white to help with printing. For your convenience, a complete set of the reading selections and task cards with limited color is included to save on printing costs!
  • Answer sheets and an answer key are included.
  • Sample answers are included for the open-ended task cards.

This package specifically includes:

  • Background page
