A great end-of-term filler. Highly popular in my school workshops, this treasure map game combines fun with literacy development - specifically, the technique of alliteration. It's just a matter of inventing place names for the forest, mountain, desert and other landmarks, but there's one rule - they have to be alliterative, so Forest of Fear is fine, but Forest of terror is not; Tree of Terror will do nicely though. Mature writers may like to introduce a theme to their names - food, creatures or shop names, for instance. Can they fit in an alliterative describing with each (e.g. Desert of Dancing Dragons)?
