This is a game that can be played on the projector, printed and put in a binder, or played in pairs if the slides are printed with multiple slides per page. This is a great brain break to get students moving between subjects! Students read the sight words on the screen as quickly and accurately as possible. When they see a pirate, they make their best pirate, "Arrrrr!" and can even do motions if you ask students to stand. This has helped my students master sight words in a fast and fun way!
Sight words included are:no, is, can, me, you, and, he, at, a, so, on, in, up, am, we, like, see, I, go, it, do, an, the, my, and to.
These are sight words I assess based on the Fountas and Pinnell Reading Benchmark Kit as part of their Phonic and Word Analysis assessments. 2011, 2008, by Irene C. Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell, Portsmouth, NH: Heinemann.
