I created these little activity for my 2nd grade students when they were learning form. Students complete the worksheet by coloring the black and white pitched tubes with the colors that they want to compose their own Pitched Tubes song in ABA form.
The pitched tubes on the worksheet are supposed to be played like quarter notes and get 1 beat.
Students can use all the different colors to create their own song. If they use red they have to use an up arrow to show they want high C or a down arrow to show they want low C. They can use the color black to show a quarter rest. Students can cut the pitched tube in half and color the top half one color and the bottom half another color to show that they want the pitched tubes to play at the same time.
It's a fun activity to practice composition and form but also a quick and easy assessment to see if students understand ABA form.
Students really enjoyed this activity and loved trying to play each others compositions!
