Object: Students will create a pizza and identify the fractions (toppings).
Students will create a pizza by adding a variety of toppings to their pizza. They will divide the pizza into 8 slices. Find 5 different fractions on your pizza. (Example: 8/8 is cheese, ½ is pepperoni, etc.) The key represents the fractions (toppings) on the pizza.
Teacher Prep: Print out the pizza fraction sheet and the blank pizza on the back. (Color or black & white available) Print out a sheet of toppings for students to use. You can give each student one sheet or you could have the toppings cut out in bowls in the front of the room for students to come up and make their pizzas. They will divide their pizza into 8 equal slices. They will glue their toppings to their pizza and then find the fraction of each topping.
