While learning about healthy bodies, we discuss foods that can contain more than one food group... like pizza! To build off that, I created some math and literacy activities that can be used during centers either independently or as a guided activity depending on the level of the students.
The pack contains the following:
Beginning sounds matching mats with 2 printing options (simply print the mats and pepperoni picture cards, laminate, and allow children to match the picture cards to the letter mats)
Number representation matching mats with 2 printing options (again, print mats and pepperoni cards, laminate, and allow children to match the various number representations to the number mat... tally marks, ten frames, dots, number words, and fingers included)
Roll and Top Pizza Count, Graph and Compare activity (print enough pizza mats and record sheets for each child plus toppings and die, laminate, assemble die, and play! Children roll the die and add that topping to their pizza until their pizza is full, count each kind of topping, write it in the spaces on their record sheet, graph those numbers, and compare to see what they had the most and least of)
Measure and Write the Room (print topping cards and record sheets, put cards around the room or in the middle of the table, children measure the pictures and record their findings on their sheet)
My Favorite Toppings reader with word cards (print pages for the book in order, cut, staple, and encourage children to read the pages and fill in the blanks with the word cards if needed or make up their own toppings!)
Dramatic play set (print and laminate pizza mats, toppings, order cards, and menus for use in dramatic play area or at a center... encourages size comparison and handwriting practice)
I hope you enjoy this set as much as my class does!
