Are your class struggling to understand money? Do they need some more work on problem solving? Do they like pizza??
If you answered "yes" to all three of the above questions, then this task is for you!
I designed this task as a celebration for my grade 5/6 class last year. They were required to work out the costs of all the ingredients, drinks, snacks and tablewear for the party. This task was completed in small groups but could just as easily be completed by individuals. The task had to be completed in order to receive a pizza party pass (included in the document).
Please note - the costs that are included were researched and correct in November 2010. They are obviously specific to Australian stores (Coles, Woolworths, Costco) but are easily customisable for your needs. I have highlighted some information on the cover page that will need to be altered to fit your class.
Also, the problems range in difficulty as my Maths class consists of students at-risk (12 months or more below expected level) and extension students (12 months or more above expected level).
I really hope you enjoy this product! I know that my class did - and they LOVED the pizza party too!! (We had a complete Math theme - we played Who Wants to be a Mathionaire? as well as other paper and pencil math games!)
