This project centers around the idea of a pizzeria. There are 8 different components to this project. Teachers can pick and choose which components to do or use some as extension activities for fast-paced higher learners. This project is developed for grades 3-5 and can be changed for those grade levels to fit the learners. This project incorporates many areas of common core math including fraction concepts, decimal concepts (if desired), measuring and word problem writing and solving.
Step 1: Create pizza using fraction concepts & create word problems using pizza created.
Step 2: Circumference measurement & crust making using measurement concepts.
Step 3: Visit with another class & have them solve word problems of students
Step 4: Visit another class doing project (skip this step if not applicable)
Step 5: Measure diameter of pizza (extension step)
Step 6: Menu Makeover for Pizzeria
Step 7: Buy products for Pizzeria
Step 8: Taste Testing Buying & Selling
