Students will have fun applying their knowledge of place value and counting skills in this race-to-the end board game. Students begin by rolling a die to see how many times to move their game piece forward on the board. Depending on where they land on the board, they will either need to add pieces to their place value board using base ten rods, or take some away. The winner is the first one to reach the end and back! This is an excellent game to help build the concept of place value as well as counting by multiples of ten.
Optional: Copy the attached set of numbers 3x and laminate. Cut them out and put them in order with 0 on the top and 9 on the bottom. Use a binding ring to attach to the bottom of each place so the students can build the number a second time with digits.
The game is a word document, so you may easily change the value of any number on the game to make it easier or more difficult depending on the age you are working with.
