Each student will receive a battleship place mat and two strips of numbers 1-9. They will need to create a number of their own using the number cards (1-9) on the boxes that say "my number". They will work with a partner. The place mats should be hidden from their partner. They will have to take turns guessing their partners number. For example, they will have to say "Do you have a 3 in the ten thousands?" . If they guess the number correctly, they will use their other set of number cards to place that number on the boxes labeled "my partner's number". I used this in my class when we were discussing place value and reviewing. They loved it.
