This activity will help students practice their reading and writing numbers in standard form, practice identifying specific place value, and overall math vocabulary.
Materials: Deck of cards
Objective: Sink your opponent's ship!
- Lay out 11 cards face up and write them in the "cards on deck" section
- Write a card's number in a place value of your choice
- Take turns asking if there is a specific digit in a specific place value
Player 1: "Is there the digit in the place?"
Player 2: "Hit" (yes) // "Miss" (no)
This game can be used to supplement any of your place value lessons. Use them with your small groups, use them as math game centers, use them as whole group games, etc.
