Goal: To give learners opportunities to read four digit numbers aloud and to practise partitioning numbers to gain understandings of place value.
Take turns at pulling out a card and saying the number aloud. Place the number card wherever it will fit on the board (if it is 4892, it can be put in the 4000 place, or the 800 place, or the 90 place or the 2 place). The first person to get 4 in a row, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally, is the winner.
The first player to have a number in every column is the winner.
Alternative activities with these cards:
Randomly take 10 number cards and place them in ascending or descending order.
Use the board as a partitioning prompt rather than a bingo board, allowing learners to talk about where a number could go… everyone takes a number card: find where it goes if looking at the tens column; take another card: where does it go, looking at the hundreds column.
