This time of year brings about many School Carnivals... Why not celebrate with a Place Value Carnival unit? Perfect for young learners, this unit features games, activities, and centers themed around common games found at a school carnival. You'll find a Cake Walk Game, Duck Pull Center, and of course those delicious carnival snacks!

Included in this fun unit are the following centers:

~Footlong 10 More, 10 Less ~ Students are given a number on a footlong hotdog. They must decide the numbers that are 10 more and 10 less than the one given.

~What's Your Ticket Worth? ~ Students are given tickets with addition problems in expanded form. They will have to give the standard form of the number and sort them into Greater and Less Than 50 groups.

~Number Puzzles ~ These puzzles feature counting by 2, 3, 5, and 10's. Students will make a picture once the puzzle pieces are put together correctly.

~Cupcake Walk ~ This is a game for up to three players. Each are given a set of tickets with numbers on them. They pull a cupcake card and must decide if their ticket number is greater/less than the number given. If correct they keep the cupcake. They'll have to watch out for those special cupcake cards!

~Spin to Win! ~ Students will spin a Tens and Ones spinner, and show the number using base ten blocks. They'll then have to write an equation for their blocks shown, using a chart given.

~Go Fish ~ Students will pull a fishing card that has a picture of base ten blocks hooked to it. They have to match it with its correct fish card that shows a number.

~Ducks in a Row ~ Students are given a card with ducks floating in a water tub. They have numbers on them and students must put them in numerical order.

~Football Throw ~ Numbers are underlined on football cards. Students must determine the place value of the underlined digit.

~Ticket Booth ~ The ticket booths show numbers and have a place value listed. Students must determine what number is in that place.

~Balloon Pop! ~ Students are given a group of balloons with single digit numbers on them. Using a chart, they must make the greatest and least number possible with the numbers they were given.

~Yummy Snacks ~ These are snack cards with puzzles. Students must find the numbers that are 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, and 1 less than those shown.
