Students need to be able to compare place value flexibly. This product includes a comparing game where students must decide if 135 tens is more or less than 15 hundreds.
I have also included blank cards so they can create new cards to compare.
After they play the comparing game, I have included an assessment that will tell you what cognitive thinking level of each's student.
This game is designed as a mini lesson to compliment any place value study. Common core math standards require students to be flexible in their thinking and understand that each place value is ten more than the one on the right, and one tenth of the one on their left.
I designed this activity to be an investigation into place value to deepen their understanding. You have the flexibility to let them learn/create and then assess when they are ready.
Answer key included for test.
