Made when I first started teaching and powerpoints were the RAGE, I think I spent more time making this presentation than using it! It is a good little lesson, though. (Well, big---93 slides!)
It will cover everything you ever wanted to teach about place value: using a place value chart for whole numbers and decimals, expanded form, rounding, vocabulary, and practice problems. Scaffolding included with lots of opportunity to practice with your class. The preview file will give you a great idea of the presentations looks and content.
You can get back to the table of contents at any time by clicking on the icon in the corner of the screen, which allows teachers to take a non-linear path through the lesson, if desired.
Enjoy! I'm still getting great mileage out of this lesson. I hope you do, too.
Note: The final section labeled "problem-solving" is more like solving problems a la skill practice--not problem-solving as in multi-step word problems. Check out the preview for clarification.
