These cards are a great way for your students to practice place value. There is a starting card and then a question at the bottom. The student with the starting card asks the question "Whose card has an underlined digit with the value of ______?" The student whose card has a number with an underlined digit of that value, says their statement and then asks their question. The game continues until the last student who says "I have the last card".
There are 20 cards in all. The numbers go up to the one millions place. It's a good activity to keep students' attention and it's also fun to time how long it takes to go through the entire set. My students love trying to beat their time!
Another option is to have the students work with partners or small groups to line up the cards like dominoes.
