These place value games
are a quick, easy and fun
way to practice, as well as whole-group assess
Print off a class set of the colorful place value mats, laminate & trim.
Call out a number and have children break it down using a dry erase marker
You can see at a glance who is having difficulty.
I've included manipulatives
, in 3 different sizes, so that you can "show" the number in a more visual way
You can also switch things up, and instead of saying the number, show it with manipulatives & have students write down the number.
There's also a black and white
template, so that students can color and make their own gingerbread place value mats.
Turn them into dry erase boards
by cutting squares of glossy photo paper
, and have students glue them to the "windows". Wahla! Instant dry erase!
Another fun way to practice and whole group assess, is with the gingerbread house "sliders"
Call out a number; students pull on the "sliders" 'til the appropriate numbers appear in the windows.
I'm Diane from Teach With Me, wishing you a jolly holly time practicing place value, with a Christmasy twist
