I've created a Place Value Lap Book that can be used as teaching and practice tool. The lap book can be adapted to teach place value to the hundreds and thousands place. I teach third grade (And we teach to the ten thousands place), but I spend a lot of time working with the skills to the thousands place only to be sure the students really "get it". The lap book is set up in a way that makes it easy to differentiate within your classroom to meet your students needs.
*If you laminate the lap book the students can use dry erase markers for practice with the lap books, which allows for a whole lot of use out of the lap books.
The lap book includes:
*Number Cards (Print as many as needed to differentiate)- Use these with the place value chart to have students create numbers.
*Base Ten Blocks- Printable ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands base ten blocks.
*Number Card and Base Ten Blocks Pockets
*2 Place Value Charts- One to the Hundreds Place and one to the Thousands Place
* Place Value Vocabulary Flip Book and Examples- Flip book includes standard form, expanded form, word form, and base ten blocks sections to practice showing numbers in all of those forms.
* Base Ten Blocks Reference section
*Greater Than, Less Than, Equal To Cards to Practice Comparing Numbers
*Detailed Direction Page with Pictures.
*There are so many different ways this lap book can be utilized during your place value unit. I personally plan on laminating the lap books for my class and using them as a teaching and practice tool. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like any ideas of how to use this item in your classroom!
