PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Have you found the fantastic mentor text, "A Fair Bear Share" by Stuart Murphy? I love the story, and how it helps my students make sense of counting groups of tens and ones, and helps me to lay a strong foundation for adding with regrouping later on.

I designed this extension activity with the story in mind. Mama Bear needs her cubs to find the ingredients to make her famous Blueberry Pie, and our students get to help count them up. There are four separate activities of adding cards with blueberries, seeds, and nuts (just like in the story), but we added a super secret ingredient only bear cubs will enjoy in their pies!

There is also a follow up activity to add in Sister Bear's additions, since she didn't work hard enough the first time around. This activity focuses on adding teen numbers and making new tens.

My students have the hardest time with the extended response questions for every unit. So most of my packs are now being designed with at least one extended response question. This pack has three different questions so you can choose which skill you'd like to have you students practice writing about.

The preview has a sampling of just one activity. Feel free downloaded and give it a try! And don't forget to follow my store by clicking the green star by my name, all of my new resources are always 50% for the first 10 buyers, so be the first to know!
