Place Value Expanded Notation Games: This activity puts an academic twist on the familiar game of “Find Someone Who..” Each student has a recording sheet with their number at the top. (There are 12 different numbers, so depending on your class size, more than one student might have the same number.) Students walk around the room and check each person’s number to see where it fits on the grid. Students write the answer and the name or initials of a person with that number on the line in each box. You can even reuse the game cards by placing each card in a sheet protector and having student write their answers with a wipe-off or dry erase marker.
There are 6 different games included in this set. Each game has 12 different cards. This “Find Someone Who Has” set reviews and practices expanded notation at different levels – perfect for differentiation:
- 2-digit base ten form
- 2-digit expanded notation form
- 2-digit mixed base ten and expanded notation forms
- 3-digit base ten form
- 3-digit expanded notation form
- 3-digit mixed base ten and expanded notation forms
