This Place Value Math Movers game is perfect for place value review for your entire class. Get them up and moving with this colorful, fun, and engaging game. Students move around the room to solve the problems on each of the cards. This place value game focuses on the following concepts: standard form, word form, expanded form, values of digits, and place value of digits. Enjoy!
THIS GAME IS FOR YOUR ENTIRE CLASS TO PLAY!
DIRECTIONS ARE INCLUDED WITHIN THE FILE AS TO HOW TO PLAY THE GAME!
Here's the concept. There are 16 cards. You DO NOT need one card for each student. Lay the cards on the desks face up. It doesn't matter where you put them, you can place them on tables, the floor, etc, as long as the students know where you are placing them. Each card has a corresponding letter or number on it.
Then, the students are given a recording sheet with blank spaces and a number or letters through 16 (to match the cards). When you say begin, all students move around locating the cards with the problems and solving them. I usually play soft, quite music during this time as well.
There is also a help area located on their sheet. If another student sees they placed a problem number in their help area, another student can explain and help them work that problem out. When the first two finish, I give them the answer key and they sit somewhere to check each others' work, the next two get the next answer key, and so forth. Hopefully this explains the directions better, as many teachers have responded that since there are only 16 cards they couldn't use it for a whole class, but since each student answers all 16, it doesn't matter on the amount of problems.
There is also a "How to Play" sheet included within each math movers game, so it can be explained to the students!
