This fun project will have your students using their imagination to plan and budget for an imaginary trip to the red carpet! What a great way to incorporate financial literacy into the classroom.
"Congratulations! You won a radio contest to go on a 3-day trip to attend the Movie Awards to help promote the charity of your choice! You have also been given $100 000 in prize money to help you get there, get ready to walk the red carpet and make a donation to a charity of your choice on stage in front of all the celebrities! But you need to spend it wisely."
Students must buy items from the Market Place and use the Budget Tracker to spend their prize money effectively. They must make 10 purchases but not spend any more than $100 000. Students must choose which hotel they would like to stay in, what means of transportation they will use and more! They also must research and choose a charity (and a donation amount :O) to give some of their winnings to.
Not only will this math project help them to use the skills they have acquired in Place Value, but they also must give an oral presentation to share their Red Carpet experience with the class. What a way to get a Math and Language mark in one awesome, fun project.
This product includes:
*Oral Presentation Sheet
I hope you enjoy using this with your class!
