Place value is the foundation for a successful school year! By allowing your students opportunities to play games and practice these skills, they will have stronger number sense that will greatly help as skill level increases throughout the year! In this product, you will find five activities, student directions with “I can” statements, game cards, and recording sheets.
*Rounding Sort:100s- Students sort two and three digit numbers, as well as numbers shown in expanded form, to the hundred each number rounds to.
*Place Value Pair Up!-A memory game where students match place value blocks, numbers in standard form, and numbers in expanded form.
*Roll & Round- Students create 3 digit numbers using dice, round to the nearest 10 and 100, and use two numbers to write their own word problem for a classmate to solve.
*What’s the Value?- Students create 4 digit numbers using playing cards and show the number in expanded form (Second version included where students also round to the nearest 10 and 100).
*Some Sums!: Students roll dice to create a number (2 and 3 digit included) and then use those to write an addition sentence. The numbers are then rounded and students find the estimated sum.
