These number sorts are a great way to teach (then allow your students to practice in math stations) number sense, including place value and determining multiples of 5 and 10. I tell my first graders, "multiples of 10" just means you say it when you count by tens". (Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!)
There is a sort with 7 tens, 5 ones, and multiples of 10. Another has 2 tens, 7 ones, and even numbers. The last sort has 8 tens, 3 ones, and multiples of 5. Each sort has 18 number cards.
You can increase the rigor of each of these sorts by removing the header cards and challenging your students to sort them without knowing the category. Then they tell how they sorted them and, finally, label the category.
Thanks so much (...and please leave a comment for me)!
