This is a collection of four activities for your students to use during a place value unit. These activities are differentiated and involve students applying place value knowledge to either order numbers or make and order numbers. There are activities which can be completed alone or with a partner.
Activity 1 Students are to cut out one row of numbers at a time and use their place value knowledge to place in order and glue into their books. Three differentiated levels.
Activity 2 Using a deck of cards (picture cards removed) students flip over either two, three or four cards depending on level. With those cards they make the largest ad smallest number they can, recording on the board. Three differentiated levels.
Activity 3 This is a two player game. Using three 10 sided dice and a shared game board. Students take turns rolling the 3 dice and making a 3 digit number. They place their number along the game board where they think it fits best. If they can not place their number they miss a turn. The first player to fill all the spaces on the game board wins.
This game is differentiated for two levels.
Activity 4 Making and ordering numbers. Using a dice to make a 1,2,and 3 digit number, finding the sum and comparing with a partner to see who has the biggest number.
these are all fun and engaging activities which I have successfully used with my students. I am sure your students will love them as well.
