Place Value Pool Party can easily be implemented into math work stations and the practiced skills are Common Core aligned. This learning activity will allow students to begin understanding two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and one (1.NBT.2). They will compare two numbers based on meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the results of comparisons with the symbols >, < and = (1.NBT.3).

Directions:
1. Play in partners or on own.
2. Laminate number cards (1-100) and game mat
3. Split number cards & place on mat.
4. Build #'s with Base Ten Blocks.
