Scoot! is a fun whole group activity to use in place of traditional worksheets. Questions are written on game cards, and are placed sequentially around the room on children’s desks or word stations. Students are given a blank worksheet and begin working on the problem that is found at their workspace. Each time a signal sounds, students “scoot” to the next workspace and complete the task found there.
This activity packet contains all materials needed for this whole group activity, as well as adaptations for partner or small group use. Ideas are also provided to use these materials for a whole group overhead activity.
The cards are color-coded to be easily used for a 12, 18, 24 or 30 question task. Blank worksheets are provided for each number of questions.
This particular game focuses on the concept of tally marks, and addresses Common Core State Standard K.CC.5.
