Top-It is fun math practice for two players. It may be adapted for use with a small group. Each player draws a card, and compares the number with their partner’s number. The player with the greater number wins the round. Students record their number and play continues.
This game focuses on single-digit and teen numbers and aligns with Common Core State Standards K.CC.3, K.CC.4, K.CC.5, K.CC.6, K.CC.7, K.NBT.1, 1.NBT.2 and 1.NBT.3. Students may compare standard form numerals, place value cube representations, place value bead representations, tally mark representations or any combination necessary to develop student skills.
A recording sheet is included for students to record their number comparisons.
This game format is also available for the concepts of two-digit numbers, three-digit numbers, 10 more/10 less, multi-digit numbers, and decimals. The game may be purchased individually, as part of the Top It! game set, or as part of the Place Value Puffin game set.
