This product contains 24 different puzzles, for a total of 96 puzzle pieces. These cards are differentiated by color. If you have students who are still grasping the concept of standard, expanded, and word form, I would recommend using puzzles with either blue or pink base-ten blocks. Green and yellow puzzles will have students working with numbers between 1,000 and 10,000.
When I created this product, I envisioned teachers using these puzzles during small group instruction, center time, and/or to group students into teams of four. If I were using these for small group or center time, I would put a set number of puzzles in a Ziploc bag and have students work together to complete the puzzles. Then, throughout the year, I might pull out enough puzzles to cover my class, pass them out, and have students complete their puzzles to find out who their partners will be for a group project. This would be a great, quick way to review place value throughout the year.
Last but not least, do yourself a favor and have an intern or parent helper cut these apart! I truly hope you and your students find this resource helpful!
