This fun review game will be a hit with your students! They will love reviewing place value to the millions place with this fun, move around the room game.
Here's how the game works:
I usually play this game with music, so if you have a player handy that you can stop every minute or two it will work great.
First: Lay out all of the “What’s the place value of my underlined digit?” cards/strips facedown, on the floor, all around your room.
Next, hang the posters on the walls in different locations around your room. Make sure they are at least 4 feet apart from each other.
Start your music. When the kids hear the music, they start moving, dancing appropriately around the room, and pick up a face down card on the floor. They look at the underlined digit. Then, they figure out what place value the underlined digit is, and go stand next to the correct place (house posters).
They turn around and hold their strip out facing you. Stop the music after a minute or so and make sure all students are in their spots. Quickly walk around and spot check all of the students, letting them know whether they are in the right location. Start the music again, have them put the card in their hand on the floor, and repeat.
SOMETIMES I HAVE KIDS HELP ME SPOT CHECK OTHERS AND GIVE FEEDBACK!
This game includes over 64 game cards, so it can be played many times by your students without getting old. You can also use this game as a formative observation to see how much your students understand.
