This simple game allows students to practice making and comparing large numbers. Kids roll 7 dice and place each number in the place value chart to make the largest number they can.
Comparing large numbers can be be fun, especially armed with High-Light Sabers! Use green highlighter to mark the largest number of the round! Make larger numbers by using nine-sided dice.
You may choose to laminate the Place Value Charts so they may be reused in a math center. There are several Star Wars character pages. I designed the game to accompany Go Math! Grade 4, Chapter 1.
I will use Place Value Roll as a math center game during Math Workshop. First I model how to play in small Guided Math lessons. When the students know how to play, this will become a math center game. I like to reuse these games throughout the school year to continue to practice place value. It makes a wonderful Test Prep activity.
Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
