According to Merriam-Webster, the word So·crat·ic is of or relating to the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, his followers, or his method of asking questions to discover the truth.
Socrates (469-399 B.C.), a Greek philosopher, is best known for creating the teaching practice of pedagogy, in which a teacher questions students in a particular way that pulls out the correct answer.
