Use this tool to help your students develop skills identifying place value from Ones to Hundreds, Thousands, and Millions.
The game is designed to be used as a supplemental activity after instruction. It can also be used as a math center, one-on-one tutoring activity, or extended seatwork.
Students use a regular deck of playing cards (Ace through 10 only, Ace equals 1) to arrange various numbers and then read their numbers out loud or write them in expanded form. I keep the 10 handy to show the need for regrouping and help represent a regrouped value when I use these mats for adding or subtracting with regrouping. The sorting activity is a very useful tool to use with struggling students.
