Focus: Standard form, picture form and expanded form. I feel that the structure of this activity sets up a great learning process for kids. The process flows and the students see the connection better from picture model to expanded form. If you can teach your kids to always work in this order, they will have no problem with expanded form. Expanded form is the hardest skill to teach. This process, makes it a much more easier to get kids to understand expanded form. I love this activity for my first graders.
