Place Value Task Cards contain 24 different cards for Grade 4 based on the Common Core State Standards (4.NBT.A.1, 4.NBT.A.2, 4.NBT.A.3). These cards can also be used at the end of Grade 3 or as a review in the beginning of Grade 5.
Place Value Task cards help with understanding place value through standard form of numbers, expanded form of numbers, number names, rounding, greater than/less than/equal to, and the concept that a digit in one position is 10s times larger than the digit to its right.
These place value task cards can be used in learning centers, for independent review, or in a game setting. The cards can be printed in color or grayscale. For long term use, you will want to laminate the cards first or insert them into the pages of a small 4x6 photo album where students can write their answers directly on each page with a dry erase marker. The following Common Core standards are covered:
Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers.
*CCSS.Math.Content.4.NBT.A.1 Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
*CCSS.Math.Content.4.NBT.A.2 Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
*CCSS.Math.Content.4.NBT.A.3 Use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
