This is an easy way for teachers to test a student’s understanding of place value using base 10 blocks.
For the first part of the test the teacher will show the student the number card and the student will show that number with the base 10 blocks. Example: When the teacher shows the number card 8 the student should show 8 single cubes. When the teacher shows the number card 15 the student should show one 10 and 5 single cubes.
The second half of the test is where the teacher will use the base 10 blocks and show the student a value. The student will then tell the teacher what number is shown with the base 10 blocks.
