.Math in Focus-based
.Independent work goes with Math in Focus textbooks and workbooks
Our school uses the Math in Focus Singapore Math program. We have been using it for a few years. We now have been asked to use the lessons as more of a pacing and transform the units into more of a "WORKSHOP" model that includes center-based activities that provide differentiation. The differentiation that we are required to use is supposed to be done during the actual mini lesson. This unit is the first unit that we will be using in my ICT classroom. It should stretch across 4-5 days depending on the abilities of your students. ***Based on my past experiences in 3rd grade, Math In Focus does not provide a COMPLETE curriculum based on what is expected of our students. Because of this my grade team has decided to use the Math In Focus workbooks and text books as classwork and homework assignments. We have mapped out a curriculum of which we will include some ENGAGE NY math lessons in order to fill in some gaps. I have also had some training in METAMORPHOSIS, so I will also be implementing some things I have learned from Tony. These lessons assume you have materials such as dice, and base-ten blocks.
