May The Tens and Ones Be With You, a Place Value Top-It game/ small group activity by Learning Moore in First, will help students practice counting and comparing numbers and base 10 blocks to 120.
The small group activity includes a recording sheet in which students choose 10 cards to count, draw, and write the numbers of base 10 blocks on each card, recording their work on the Student Recording Sheet.
The game that can be played with the same cards is Top-It, which works just like the card game War.
The cards are dealt between 2-4 players. All players flip a card and the one with the largest amount of base 10 blocks takes all cards.
If players have a tie, the players with equal cards should lay 2 cards face-down and then each flip one more card face-up. The player who has the larger amount gets all of the cards played in that turn.
Play ends when one player has won all of the cards from the other players or when the teacher calls time. If this happens, the player with the most cards in his/her hand would win.
Have fun playing and learning!
Black and white and color printing options are both included.
