Product Description
This unit focuses on teaching students how put numbers in standard form, word form, expanded form, and display a number with place value blocks. Students practice these skills through a mini-lesson, 10 worksheets, and 2 place value games.

I made this place value unit with my beginning third graders in mind but it would also work well for high second graders or fourth graders who need a review with place value within 1000.

What's Included?

Place Value Mini-Lesson
Students cut and glue the mini-lesson into their math notebooks. I use it as a way to review place value with my students and this is something they are able to refer back to in their notebooks all year long.

10 Place Value Worksheets
-Standard Form
-Expanded Form
-Place Value Blocks / Place Value Drawings
-Word Form
-Place Value Riddles
-Cut and Paste Worksheet

Place Value Game #1: Ninja Place Value
Did the ninjas use place value correctly? Students have to put a thumbs up or a thumbs down next to each ninja and their number. Every ninja has written their number in either word form or expanded form. Half of the ninjas did it correctly. Half of the ninjas did it wrong. Students use error analysis to figure out which ninjas did which! There are 24 ninja cards included in this game.

Place Value Game #2: Tennis Pros
This is a multi-part matching game. Students have to match the tennis player, tennis ball, tennis court, and trophy correctly according to each place value. Each tennis object represents a number written in standard form, word form, place value blocks, and expanded form. Students have to bring all four forms of the number together and match up each four together. There are 40 cards included!
