This Place Value unit Name Game is a great way for students to practice writing and saying their numbers. Break the class up into groups and have students go head-to-head writing numbers in standard, expanded, or expanded form with exponents. Or have the class write the numbers on white boards at their desk and hold them up for you to quickly gauge their understanding. Use this game at the an end of period when your class is looking for "free time" but you still want something fun and educational. Or use it as part of a review day prior to a unit test.
The game can easily be turned into an exit ticket, homework assignment, gallery walk, or Scoot game. The game comes with close to 50 random numbers, starting with a three digit decimal and going up to a number in the billions. Some numbers are decimal only, others are whole numbers only, and the rest are a mix. There are four pages listing each number in standard form, number name, expanded form, and expanded form with exponents.
