Product Description
Review place value up to seven-digit numbers (millions) with these 36 differentiated trails task cards, ideal for math centers, starter activities, early finishers challenges etc. Great for mental math practice, each card features 12 addition and subtraction calculations of different size numbers. A variety of words for 'add' and 'subtract' are used (increase, reduce etc), to consolidate understanding of these terms. Color and black and white versions included, and there are full Answer Keys.

Print and laminate as many cards as you require and students complete them with a dry-wipe marker. Save your paper or card stock and laminating pouches by printing back-to-back if you wish. Alternatively, leave un-laminated and place in a dry-erase sleeve for completion. Students start at the number in the box at the top left corner and move left to right and down the rows, adding or subtracting as directed in each box, until they reach the answer printed in the bottom right. They write their running total in each box as they go, and can then self-check at the end and investigate where they have gone wrong if their final answer in the bottom left corner does not match the one printed in the bottom right.

DIFFERENTIATION: Cards 31-36 involve less challenging calculations (although they still feature numbers up to millions) and could be used with lower ability students without it being obvious that they have a lower level task.

Full answer versions are also included for speedy checking by students or teacher if required. Alternatively, students could use a calculator to help them see where they have gone wrong. Students could work in pairs or individually and choose whether to time themselves or race against others.

I hope these cards engage your students. Please do consider rating these on TpT if you can spare a moment.
