This Place Value Vocabulary PowerPoint comes in handy as you begin your Unit on Place Value. It includes the definitions of the following terms:
• place value
• standard form
• expanded form
• word form
• base ten
Also included is a student activity sheet that asks students to match each vocabulary word with the correct definition (see preview). We use this worksheet as a quiz, but it can also be used as a center activity (just place the PowerPoint and the worksheet in your math center), classwork assignment, or homework.
Throw those vocabulary cards away! Stop writing vocabulary words on the board! Present your math vocabulary by projecting this PowerPoint.
Having this resource allows you to easily modify your instruction based on student needs. If you’d like your students to have a hard copy, simply print out the PowerPoint for students to either keep in their Math Binders, or affix to their Math Journals. If you need to differentiate in your classroom, modify the original PowerPoint into a cloze activity for those students who find copying from the board too difficult or too time consuming. Still another suggestion is to simply provide students with a hard copy and have them follow your direction to highlight important information. Answer Key for quiz/worksheet included.
All the work is done for you, and it’s always right there on your computer, ready to go!
