This game for 1-2 players can be used to review reading numbers in three ways: standard form, expanded form, and in place value blocks.
There are two ways to play.
1. It can be used with 2 players playing the traditional game of war. The card with the highest number would win.
2. It can be used as a matching game with one to two players. The player(s) would attempt to match cards with equal numbers.
It aligns with second grade's CCS 2.NBT.A.1, 2.NBT.A.3, and 2.NBT.A.4.
It also can be used as a good review in third grade before teaching rounding and adding and subtracting numbers within one thousand. (CCS.3.NBT.A.1, 3.NBT.A.2, and 3.NBT.A.3)
Finally, fourth grade teachers can use it as a stepping stone before students explore reading and writing greater numbers in standard and expanded form as well as with place value blocks. CCS 4.NBT.A.2
