This fall color by number allows students to see how place values relate to each other. For instance the 9 in 9,000 is 100x bigger than the 9 in 90. Students enjoy being able to practice this skill, while having fun coloring.
This activity also includes practice with powers of 10 (both positive and negative exponents). It allows students to understand how much a digit is worth, based on its place value.
This activity is easily differentiated, as there are different levels of skills assessed.
