Six activities, each a grid pattern formed by Base 10 Blocks: 100s Flats, 10s Rods, and 1s squares superimposed over an outline map of a continent or state.
Students first estimate the number value contained within the outline. They then count and record the number of Hundreds, Tens, and Ones, and add the total, and write the number in standard form, expanded form, place value form, and in words.
Numbers go into the low 4-digits. Appropriate for students who are learning place value to 3- and 4-digit numbers.
Continents include North America, South America, and Africa. The three states are Texas, California, and Idaho.
