What makes my formative assessments unique?
1. They are mixed problem solving. Students must consider each question independently, not just copy what they did on the previous question.
2. They address underlying process skills as well as the main student expectation. For example, in this free download, students practice place value skills, but also extract and use data from a table.
3. They are organized by standard. Are your kids having trouble with 5.2A? Need to know if your tutoring group really got that reteach of NBT.B.5? With assessments tailored to national and state standards, you can easily determine whether students have mastered the concept.
4. They are more similar to state tests than the quick assessments provided by most textbook companies. Like it or not—math tests are more complex and challenging than ever before. Our formative assessments must prepare our students for both the content and the context of their state exams.
These formative assessments were designed for use as exit tickets, quick checks, or quizzes. They are aligned to both the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The aligned standards can be found in the top right corner of each page.
