This Place Value packet is a 30 page set of worksheets intended to help students develop a better understanding of what the digit in the tens place truly means. It is also a packet that pushes students to take their thinking one step further in explaining their answer.
The first pages of this packet have students circling a group of ten and the group is set up to help students relate to a ten frame, but then the groups move to a more random order. This is to help students think at ten more abstractly. The worksheets with marble bags and crayons are already grouped by ten, so students simply count the groups of ten.
The worksheets have four questions that students respond to. Students are asked to determine the number of groups of ten, the number of ones, and the total number of objects. Then they are asked to explain their answer.
